Summary
Prof. Man-Qun Wang, Director of Department of plant protection, Huazhong Agriculture University, P. R. of China. Dr. Wang received an B.A. and M.S. degrees in Entomology from Shanxi Agriculture University and Ph.D. degree in Entomology from Nanjing Forest University. After a postdoctoral position at Nanjing Forest University, he held professorships at Huazhong Agriculture University, China. He had visiting research experiences at Rothamstad Research, UK.
His research focus on insect chemical communication in the ecology systems and insect olfactory systems, specifically its molecular mechanisms and metabolic basis of responses to semiochemicals (plant volatiles and insect pheromones) by insects. The aim of his group is to dissect signaling pathways leading to insect olfaction fundamental to plant-insect interactions, and to develop monitoring and control technologies based on semiochemicals for insect pest. His research is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and Technology Major Project and Development Program 863 of China, etc. And by now, he has published more than 60 peer review papers.
Dr. Wang also served on several scientific groups including the Entomological Society of China, the Ecological Society of China, the Forestry Society of China, etc. Now he is the President of Entomological Society of Hubei Province, China.
